About/
In the Center's studio, artists receive instruction in the production of
painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, collage, assemblage, and creative writing. These works are exhibited in the Center's gallery and at many national and international sites, developing individual's self-confidence and greatlyenhancing the esteem in which our society holds its disabled citizens. Artists receive 60% of proceeds from the sale of their work.
In addition to the studio environment where professional artists work to help each individual achieve his or her artistic goal, First Street offers integrated community instruction in Social Skills, Self-Advocacy, Activities of Daily Living, Communication and Independent Living Skills.
First Street is one of twelve diverse programs of the Tierra del Sol Foundation, a non-profit organization founded in 1970. Tierra del Sol provides training programs and support services for adults with
developmental disabilities including autism, Down's syndrome, cerebral palsy and other significant challenges. Through support and instruction, individuals participating in Tierra's programs develop talents and skills, improving their quality of life.
